Caddo Retired Educators Elect New Leadership

The Caddo County Retired Educators held the monthly meeting on Monday, April 8, at Caddo Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb. There were 15 members present. The group was led in the flag salute by Linda Harrison and a devotional was given by Pama Phillips. Secretary Christi Smith read minutes from the last meeting and reports were given by Treasurer Allen Klein, Scholarship Chair Julie Mead, Legislative Chair Harvey Mead, and Membership Chair Donna Weaver.

The group discussed itsjourney to the state capital in March for Seniors Day where 8 members were able to attend and visit with legislators over upcoming bills.

For this month’s program, member Mike Weaver set up a tour of several programs at Caddo Kiowa Technology.

The group enjoyed visiting the Innovative Technology class where students learn to create animation and 3D projects.

Instructor Jeremy Wright explained the program to those in attendance. The group then visited the Bio-medical and Health Careers building where instructor Lindsay Potts explained the program to the members.

The group then returned to the meeting room where nominations for officers for 2024-25 were voted upon.

Those elected for the upcoming school year were: President: Paula Squires, Vice-President: Linda Harrison, Secretary: Christi Smith, Treasure: Allen Klein, Reporter: Debbie Tyson, Legislative Chair: Harvey Mead, Membership Chair: Julie Mead, and Scholarship chair: Donna Weaver.

After a delicious lunch prepared by Culinary Arts Department, the meeting was adjourned.

The final meeting for this school year will be held Monday, May 13 where the group will make preparations for programs for 2024-25.
