OKLAHOMA CITY, – The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) announced today the application period for the annual Cattleman of the Year is open until June 1.

The Cattleman of the Year is the highest honor OCA bestows upon one of its own members. The honor is a reflection of service, leadership, integrity and dedication to OCA as well as the cattle industry as a whole.

“OCA annually honors a member who has gone above and beyond in their contributions to our association and declares them the Cattleman of the Year,” said Dr. Troy Shelby, OCA President. “The honor is not limited to their contributions of just one year, but often a lifetime of commitment to our Association and beef cattle industry,” continued Shelby. Past honorees going back to the award’s inception in 1990 are listed on a large plaque in the OCA office.

Qualified applicants must be an OCA member in good standing. The official application can be found on the OCA website at www.okcattlemen.org in the Convention and Trade Show tab of the Events listing. The official application must be used to nominate an individual with all supporting materials such as letters of recommendation attached to the official application. The honor will be presented at the Saturday evening banquet of the 72nd Annual OCA Convention and Trade Show on July 20.

The OCA is the trusted voice of the Oklahoma Cattle Industry and works to protect and empower Oklahoma cattlemen today, to serve tomorrow. OCA is the only voice that speaks solely for the cattlemen of Oklahoma and represents beef producers in all 77 counties across the state. The OCA officers, board of directors and membership encourages you to join us in our advocacy efforts to ensure less government intervention, lower taxes and a better bottom line.
